Presidents Report – April 2025

Welcome to the April 2025 Presidents Report.  I hope this sees you and your loved ones relaxed after the school holiay season – or more relaxed because classes have started at both schools and here at Coolum HeARTs.

Its been awhile since I’ve compiled a Presidents Report for a couple of reasons, swamped with work, a bit lazy and bit on/off sickness. I am blessed though with an amazing Coolum HeARTs Committee, that recognises that sometimes life, and how things operate, take a different approach as needed.

During the period, November to January, many of us put our hands up to assist another amazing local group doing great things; the Coolum Lions with the annual Friday night markets at Tickle Park. This year was a little slower and definitely a lot wetter than prevous years which had an impact on numbers, but not the vibe of the event. We would like to thank the Coolum Beach Lions for their support and a donation of $3000 towards the HeARTs.

In March Vivien Collins, our Coolum HeARTs Treasurer ran a Trivia Night here at the Shed for us which was simply loads of fun. People bought alongs a series of nibbles for the night and proceeded to answer super hard and funny questions as part of the evening.  Yes, there was a table of ultimate winners, however I think after all the laughter, music and food, it was the room full of grinners that won – well done Viv.

On top of a very successful first term, we then had a series of Saturday street stalls down by the café sector of Coolum Beach, selling raffle tickets towards paintings donated by Clive Holden, Founder of Coolum HeARTs, a very large bottle of Whiskey donated by XX, a Coolum HeARTs Member, and a mosaic coffee table put together by our Barb Holden, Co-founder of Coolum HeARTs.  Thank you to all involved. The raffle was drawn on Saturday 19 April 2025, with all winning ticket holders called on the day.

Our next assist event is the Bar for an upcoming Civic Centre Concert, before the Annual Art and Music Festival to be held on Sunday, 17th August at the Coolum Civic Centre also.

For all members, and potential future members, our Term 2 calander of events at the shed has been released on Facebook and on our coolumhearts.com.au website. It is not too late to register your interest and come on down to spend time with some well-known friends or come and meet new ones. Coolum HeARTs is about Community through low cost events and activities, and we are continually amazed at the growing numbers and classes held here at the Centre, or across at the Uniting Church for Drumming and Choir.

Some other important notes:

Our committee is looking for new members, people who would like to be a part of shaping Coolum HeARTs and helping with the shared workload of running a community organisation. Unfortunately they are volunteer positions, but come with an established team that loves what we do – we are just getting more mature and the aid of some fresh thinking and ideas is always welcome.

To close, we once again thank all the great people who help make Coolum HeARTs Inc a beautiful place to be. Our wonderful facilitators who bring our activities to life, our volunteers who are on board to support our facilitators and participants, our members who come along and are apart of the Coolum HeARTs family, the amazing carers we see who attend to help make each activity for each participant something special.

As we close out the April newsletter, we would like to pay special respect and remembrance towards all of our ANZAC veterans, whether as serving members, or members supporting our serving members, and the wives, husbands and families that gave so much.  We shall never forget.

All the very best,
