What's on at Coolum HeARTs

We offer low-cost access to art and lifestyle programs and activities to all in the community during the school term. If you are a member you pay a reduced cost for all groups.

A gold coin donation applies to attend Meditation and Women’s Hub.  Men’s Resilience is free as it is held off site. See our membership page for other benefits. 

 

Our programs are held in a variety of locations in the heart of Coolum Beach, although the majority are held in “the Shed”, corner of Elizabeth Street and Sunrise Avenue.  Below is a brief description of what you can get involved in.

Art - Mondays 9.30am to 11.30 at Coolum Hearts Community Shed

Coolum HeARTs Art facilitator and the experienced team of volunteers will provide you with the equipment you need to start off and guide you to produce your masterpiece!!  Bring your own canvas or purchase one when you arrive. All levels of proficiency are catered for and beginners are very welcome.

I’m Still Standing choir – Mondays 10-30am to 12 noon at the Uniting Church Hall, Elizabeth Street

Our new energetic and talented conductor is ready to welcome you into this happy group to learn a variety of songs, which may be performed at some of our fundraisers if you are keen.  Singing is known to release our feel-good hormones as well as boosting immunity by promoting a healthy lymphatic system.

Women's Hub - Monday 1.00pm - 3.00pm pm at Coolum Hearts Community Shed.

Come along and share and learn new skills to become the resilient woman you dream of being in a confidential and supportive environment.

Meditation - Wednesdays 10.00 - 11.00am at Coolum Hearts Community Shed

It’s not what you think but how you think.  Learn how to meditate within a safe supportive and friendly environment under the careful guidance of an experienced facilitator.

 

Ukulele - Wednesdays 11.30pm to 2.30pm at Coolum Hearts Community Shed. 

Beginners (11.30 -1.00pm) to intermediate (1.00pm to 2.30pm). Come along and learn how to play and change chords, strum in time and more. Learn from Kalani, our experienced Hawaiian facilitator.

Men’s Resilience – This group meets up every second week.

Are you a man suffering with depression, anxiety or both?  This group led by John is perfect for you.  It is a peer support group where you can confidentially share and perhaps, through your experience, help another who is struggling with life issues.

Mosaics - Thursdays two sessions 10am to 12 noon and 1.00pm to 3.00pm at the Coolum Hearts Community Shed

This very popular program welcomes everyone who likes to create. All tiles, glue and grouting is supplied.  Shapes and other items are available to purchase from $5.

Gentle Yoga - Fridays 9.30am to 10.30am at the Coolum Hearts Community Shed

This one hour hatha yoga session involves gentle, slow, warm-up stretches done with concentration on the stretch and the breath.  Postures and movement are presented in stages so participants progress at their own pace.  It concludes with a guided relaxation that leaves you feeling refreshed.  Bliss!  Suitable to everyone at any stage of life and run by an experienced practitioner.

Heartbeats Drumming with Music – Fridays 10.30am to 12 Noon in the Uniting Church Hall, Elizabeth Street.  

We provide you with a Djembe drum or you are welcome to bring your own. Come along and join the fun. Did you know that Djembe drumming enhances concentration, reduces stress and anxiety and helps you to be in the ‘now’.

Sewing & Craft - Friday afternoons 12 to 2-30pm at the Coolum Hearts Community Shed 

Bring along your craft work; sewing machine and overlocker also available for any small jobs.  No charge
